The Corporation

Our client is a not for profit indigenous-owned media producer and broadcaster servicing 14 remote communities across 250,000km of the Western Desert region of Western Australia. Programs created in their multi-million dollar media center are in high demand, enabling our client to have enjoyed sustainable growth over the last 10 years.  They employ over 35 Indigenous and non-Indigenous people who work closely together to share stories across the country.

The Opportunity

They are seeking an IT Manager to join their company in the Western Desert region of Western Australia (750kms from Alice Springs), with the potential to earn $60,000 pa + 12.5% Super + remote location allowance of $4133 + annual airfare of $1275. In addition, you will receive an additional four weeks leave per year on top of any statutory leave. You will also be provided with access to a 4WD vehicle, furnished accommodation and utilities at the base community, and accommodation as required when traveling to other communities. 

This is a full-time position with the ideal candidate being able to start in October for a hand-over period.

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the maintenance of the IT systems.

Reporting to the General Manager, some of your responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining of office IT systems (Mac + Windows + Unix-based gateway)
  • Maintaining of remote media centers (6 PCs in 12 very remote communities) 
  • General day to day troubleshooting and office support 
  • Continued development of interesting IT projects ($100K+ budgets) 
  • Procurement and deployment of IT equipment to remote communities
  • Reporting on current projects

Who You Are

To be successful for this role you will be an independent and experienced (but not necessarily qualified) IT Manager, with an interest in film, photography, and music.

This role would suit a candidate that is patient, resilient and can communicate effectively in a cross-cultural environment. Knowledge and understanding of political, social and economic factors affecting Aboriginal people would be a huge benefit, along with the ability to live and work in a remote and alcohol-free community.
